I finally decided to make a mechanical pencil for my shop instead of constantly sharpening pencils to get that sharp line for dovetail cutting. I got a whole bunch of this maple from a tree in our neighborhood that came down about 8 months ago.
I like the feel of the wood when writing so I don’t use high build finishes. This is sanded to 12,000 grit, Danish Oil, then Shellawax as the final coat.
Attention pen swappers: I put 4 of these blanks from the same tree in the swap box!
