I got the plans for this tray from my Woodsmith/TimeLife Books collection. The tray measures (roughly) 11 1/2” x 17 1/4”. The tray is made from air dried pine (about 10 years) and the splines are made out of purple heart.

This is a nice materials light project (you get all you need from just a couple 6 foot boards) although it took me probably 5 hours of non glue drying time…

The piece is going up for auction at local non-profit fund raising event.

This is a nice practical project and quite an eye catcher as well. Congratulations.

Did you cut the curved corners or did you bend them?

They were cut on the bandsaw, with the grain running diagonal across them for the most strength.

Cool and pretty tray! Beautiful design and the splines are great accents. Great job!
