Great looking piece of marquetry. I assume it’s designed to be hung? I think that your workmanship is outstanding. I also think that you will find that us LJ guys and gals crave as much detail as you can provide about your projects.

The marquetry roses are everywhere! And everyone’s take on the subject is unique and beautiful.
Wonderful job, Kolwdwrkr. Have you tried sand-shading yet? That’s my next move.

This piece is meant to be wall hung. I haven’t experienced sand shading yet, but I intend to. My problem is that I build cabinetry for a living and we don’t do this kind of work. We specialize in kitchen and bath cabinetry, entertainment centers, etc. People won’t pay for fine details unless you are one of the few lucky builders or a fine furniture maker. So, my experience in marquetry is pretty limited. I think though, with the pieces I’ve posted, that I have something going that I hope to continually share with everyone. I also carve, and will be posting some of that work as well. Thanks for all the great comments
