Pecan Tree "turned" into a bowl

A friend brought me a pecan tree trunk from Georgia. It is the neatest wood I have seen. Lots of character and grain.. Nice to work with too.

After cutting it up with a chainsaw I pieced it out for boards and saved a few end cuts for bowls..

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful bowl you made, Nick. I love the grain pattern. I have gotten pecan from Arizona but it is not that nice looking!!It gets better looking the more I stare at it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice looking bowl,,,I’m making a sideboard out of pecan from a tree that fell during a hurricane 20 years ago here in NC. It’s nice looking wood, but hard as nails, very hard wood.

You are right. The grain has lots of character making the bowl beautiful and unique. I too love the color! The fact that your friend brought you the wood from Georgia, makes it even more special!
