My Friend owns a flooring store, and has given me many boxes of hardwood flooring.. For months I have struggled with a good idea for it.. finally, my Wife’s cousing is getting married, and we needed a wedding gift…....
poof
Cutting board..
The board is every second board and outside – Tigerwood, the inner boards are Cherry, Maple, Maple, Walnut, Walnut, Maple, Maple, Cherry. It’s held together with Tightbond III and is finished with a Mineral Oil/Wax combo I got from Lee Valley.
The board turned out great… Now I have a use for all of my off cuts and hardwood flooring.. now I just have to clear the backlog of 30+ orders for cutting boards after making just one…. BTW.. Don’t use your planer to take off the hardwood flooring finish.. Doh! now I need new blades..
-- But honey.. this new power tool will pay for itself when we re-do the kitchen!

Great first cutting board and an appropriate gift. I’m sure it will be cherished for years to come. Thank you for sharing.

nicely Done.
I learned from my first cutting board NOT Not to place Walnut on the edge.
Very soft and prone to splitting or just plain nicking etc.
again nice.
