I have seen this design around for a while, and I wanted to make one for my niece. I decided to make a prototype out of low cost wood to see if the geometry worked out. My biggest concern was fingers getting pinched when moving the step up and down. The stool came out pretty good, I think I will add another dowel to the front of the stool so that the back doesn’t swing all the way down when you pick it up.

Nice looking step stool. Yes the design has been around awhile. I built a few 30 years ago for my kids and nephew and nieces. Still have one in the shop today. Solid as a rock. Good idea with the extra dowel.

I thought I was the only one who put the ROS in the vice upside-down.

It’s very clean and makes a nice project. The design looks good.
