Maple and walnut tea box

Here is a box I made for practice.

I designed it as a box for a box of tea, my wife drinks a lot of tea and I figured it would be a cool way to store it.

I am in need of a planer, so the only thing I think I would have liked to do differently is make the wall thickness less on the box itself. Other than that I was happy with how it turned out.

It is maple and walnut with a hardboard bottom. Finished with poly and BLO.
The handle turned out nice, it was my first attempt at a mortise and tenon but I knew it would be covered by the large base of the handle and it is securely glued on.

There are a couple of pics pre finish too.

Great looking box! Great design, the splines are great accents and like the handle. Great work!
