So I made a simple spline jig

Then I needed to build something using the jig.

I made this little box, it is poplar and has splines made of padauk.

Same as another box I made, I would like the wall thicknes thinner. A planer is the tool that I am looking for next.

The padauk bled red color onto the poplar during glue up and I had to sand quite a bit to remove it, but it turned out all right and the spline jig was a success.

Finished with poly.
Thanks
Ryan

That’s cute :)

I’m surprised the padauk bled. But then I’m not sure I’ve ever been in a ROOM with padauk, much less worked with it.

Poplar and padauk. Is there any thing that padauk doesn’t stain.

Thanks for showing your box and the sweet jig.
