This is a “floating” pedestal bed that I made for my son. It is walnut base with birch plywood and walnut burl veneer on the bed. The pedestal has 8 drawers underneath it. It was the biggest project I have undertaken and it was brutal finishing it. I used a garnet shellac and then polyeuthane on it. I think that next time I would design it so that it could be torn down into smaller parts for ease of moving. My son is still quite mobile and this is a big piece of furniture. I wish I could say that is a mastiff on the bed to give it some scale; however, in the spirit of complete disclosure, I will admit that it is a “teacup” sized dog and that should make it accurately sized.

Great work. Just getting ready to tackle one like it.

-- Mother Nature created it, I just assemble it.
