Because the work I do makes it dangerous to wear my ring all the time, I thought it appropriate that I use that work to make something to protect the ring while I can’t be wearing it. I had some Zebrano and Wenge laying around after a job we did for the importer and it worked out great.

The box is about 2 1/16” in diameter and 1 1/16” tall, not counting the 5/16 high Wenge knob. I added brown flocking to the inside of the box to help center the drawer and make a smooth slide. The inside of the drawer has green flocking for a little contrast. As you can see it fits the ring perfectly and my wife loves it.

Thank you all for your comments. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. After uploading a picture to Facebook, I got a few requests for more. One such request was for one made out of maple with a cherry knob to be durable enough for taking along on a work truck. I’ll likely upload pictures of it also. Not as exotic looking as this one but the maple and cherry make a nice contrast and have their own innate beauty.

Have your say...
