These are the last two projects I have been able to complete, and the first two I have posted here. Used some plans from Wood Magazine. The Light one was the first, and I enjoyed the project so much decided to do a second. I plan to give the second (dark) one to my Granddad this weekend when I see him.

Both are made from Maple, the light one is finished in clear shellac only. The second is a mix of clear shellac and golden brown trans tint. For all the screw ups in finishing the second one it turned out great. I will definatley use the transt-tint mix again, just have to perfect its application.

Planning to build two more in the near future for my Father and FIL.

Enjoy

Very nicely done—functional, great looking and outstanding gifts.

Naval, I like the design you have chosen to use. The proportions are pleasing to the eye. The storage area at the back for phone and the like seems like a good idea. Hope this “phone pocket” is padded at the bottom. The drawer seems like good out of sight storage. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Great looking and well made valets! Like the wood combination and finish, very attractive. They sure make great gifts.
