Segmented Bowl made up from the following woods, Curly Maple, Purple Heart, Walnut, and Mahogany, the top row is laminated pieces of Bolivian Rosewood, Purple Heart, and Wenge. It about 10 inches by 5 inches. A lot of time and care went into this piece as it was a gift to my Beautiful adopted Daughter.

Incredible! I’m assuming you use a miter gauge to cut the individual segments? How accurate does your cutting method have to be to get all those seams to line up perfectly?

After taking the time to build a couple miter sleds and taking the time to fine tune them the segments come out really close, it takes very little sanding to get the ring to glue up nicely.

So you’ve got one sled set at 10 degrees, and the other at 15?

I got the plans for the sleds from www.turnedwood.com, he has a lot of good info on his web site, and makes some really beautiful things. Check it out and enjoy

Beautiful bowl! Very nicely done. Segmented turning is incredibly addictive, isn’t it? :)
