For my wife’s birthday, which was on Mother’s day weekend, I made this box of spalted maple and (surprise) padauk!. There were some bumps along the way, but it turned out pretty nice.

I filled it with rose petals and added the lyrics of an appropriate song. She was very pleased and grateful. She’s the best and deserves all I can muster and more!

I posted the key steps of this project in my blog

thanks for looking

C

Great looking box—nice wood contrasts and grain, tremendous hinges.

Very nice box Chris. The wood combination is great, the finish is nice. The hinges are done well. You made a special gift.
