Project Information

I hope you enjoy the pictures of The Phoenix Project jewelry box. This one features the EZInlays design RoseBud on the top of the lid and the FlutterBy design on the inside part of the lid. I will be posting a bunch more pictures on my EZInlays Facebook page later today if you want to see more pictures of box and inlays being built.

I'm not sure if it is a good idea showing the joints "up close and personal" but what the heck. I know I'm not the best woodworker but I'm not the worst either. :) One thing I do know is I enjoy making things like this, always have - always will, and I always do my best!

I tried something a little different with the inside bottom of the box. I ran across a product manufactured by DonJer called Suede-Tex. Basically you paint glue onto the surface and then blow suede dust on the glue. The finished product fells good to the touch and really looks good. I think Suede Tex has potential but I need to refine my application technique. I was trying to put in the Phoenix Project symbol but ran into a few issues. I am refining the technique and will blog about it when I get it right.

If you have followed any of my posts you know I have an amazing slab of wood from a redwood that was living at least 600 years ago. One of the things I want to build from it is a box similar to what I just posted. But before I do so I need to get my hands on better tools. Right now I have a table saw built in 1958 which doesn't exactly make great cuts anymore. I've launched a Kickstarter project, called The Phoenix Project, to help me get new tools so I can do justice with "The Slab". I would appreciate it if you would take a look at my project, share it with your friends, and if you feel compelled to help out a fellow woodworker support it!!! Thanks!!!
