I am in the process of making 3 pieces that are similar but each is a smaller size. This is the middle piece. The 3 pieces will be mounted on a board that has been textured. This particular piece has 4 dyes applied, then copper leaf with patina added. Then added some interference green mica powder. 5 coats of satin lacquer. Then I used steel wool to even out all that was there. Needs 10 more coats of lacquer. Next I will turn the 3rd piece and make the mounting piece.
Let me know what you think

Wicked looking sphere and stand. Certainly sounds like you are enjoying both projects and the name. Have you done finishes similar to this previously? The sphere finish looks very similar to Raku, a pottery style.

Geoff this is the first time I have used this acid mixture and yes the first for this finish. Yes I love a Raku pottery and would like to imitate that finish. This is as close as I have done. The next I will use a gloss finish to better achieve the Raku look.

Thanks all for the comments.

It looks fantastic. The color and copper mix is amazing, it has a very cool sparkling effect. Awesome work!
