Dad had removed most of the finish on this chest years ago before he passed away. I decided to take on finishing it for my sister. This chest belonged to our Grandmother. After all the scraping and sanding I used Minwax Golden Oak stain and 3 coats of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal oil and urethane topcoat. I removed the fancy work on top of the mirror frame and had to use a stripper to clean them up. Reinstalled them in the same holes they came out of. Sis wanted it that way, sentimental reasons I guess. That’s why they aren’t lined up better. That’s how they came from the factory. The chest showed some quality woodwork but also had some shortcuts in it’s manufacture which kind of surprised me for something lilke this. Anyway, now that this is out of the way I’ll move onto something else.

Great story of a restored keepsake apparently meaning a lot to your sister. She will treasure it and you for your efforts. Great job.
