Through WWMM this is my first posted project. I love Steve’s projects and this is my take on his design. I made this for a gift and I don’t know about you but I think about the person while I’m making the gift for them, it just works out that way. It ties my love for woodworking and the feelings I have for that person goes into the project. It is made from Cherry, which it was my first time using it. It worked great. It was the first time succsessfully resawing too. Cherry doesn’t split like Oak and it isn’t brittle like Pine. I cut the board to try to get the grain’s cathedral pattern in the middle. I used 3/4 inch plywood to look like pages in a book and bamboo skewers for the pin in the hinge. I’ve made a few other projects but being new to woodworking I haven’t felt that they were good enough to post. But after admiring and learning from everyone here, I thought it was time to contribute. I hope you like it.
