my bench was looking really nasty sitting under the oak tree, my special need son and i like to sit on it waiting for the bus, then it took a turn for the worst, so i dismantled it completely. sanded the wrought iron part and got all the old paint off, and then re painted it with some black rustolium, i ripped some 1×4 to fit the slots, sanded and trimmed to fit, i then put everything together, screwed the boards on from underneath so not to see the screws, applied a clear cost of rustolium to weather proof it and put it back under the tree for my lil man and me to wait on his bus.

Good job on the Bench Paula. I just rebuilt two of them myself.

Very much like the bench my special needs daughter and I sit on every morning while waiting for the bus. Except- yours is pretty! Now I think I now what I will have to do with our bench. Thanks for posting that.
