I have recently found the wonderful world of the old fashion wet shave. I have already found one soap that I like and have decided to try another one. I bought the soap puck and decided I needed to turn a bowl in order to hold the puck. Picture 1 is of the soap and bowl, it is actually a pretty good, snug fit. Picture 2 and 3 show the top and side view of the birdseye maple bowl. This was the first bowl that I turned and what an adventure that was.

Of course, now that I had two different kinds of brushes, I needed new brushes. The first brush, Picture 4, is a Pure Badger brush in a handle of Bubinga with a wax finish. The second brush, Picture 5, is a Best Badger knot in a handle of Paduk with a polyurethane finish.

It has been a wonderful combined adventure, learning to turn bowls and large items other than pens and also learning how to wet shave and lather. Thanks for looking

Those are really nice! I’ll like to try that lathering with a brush like in the old days. I’ll bet it is a lot cheaper than the spray cans of foam!!

Great turning pieces! Beautiful shapes and wood choices. Great to make own tools for own hobbies.

I love the Paduk handle, it looks like it would fit perfectly in the hand.
