My wife and I are expecting our first child any day now and when I heard we were expecting I figured I should start another project. It has been awhile since I’ve posted on lumberjocks because as I got sidetracked with home renovation projects among other things.

This project is made out of a combination of white oak, ash, and walnut. I copied some of the design ideas from CSomers crib project and from the wood magazine article.

I loved the project and it’s solid as a rock. I prefer to design my own projects but for anyone considering making a crib I would highly recommend getting the plans for this crib from WOOD magazine because even if you change the design they have an article on what saftey features your crib should include.

What I learned:
1) Ash and white oak can work well together
2) Making mortises by hand is fun for 10 seconds.
3) Making mortises at 2 a.m. leads to mistakes.

Very nicely done. It’s looks solid.A baby crib is your baby’s first furniture.Cribs can be found in a wide variety of styles. Some of the most versatile styles of crib are those which are designed to be changeable and adjustable as the baby grows.Wooden baby cribs are durable, useful and greatly effective while caring for your new baby.

Looks great, hope you had as much fun building as I did. Still haven’t completed the toddler bed, yet, but wife is okay with him in his secure enviroment.

Thanks for the comments. I don’t think that I’ll build the toddler bed. The next “baby” project I think I’ll tackle will be a bassinet.

Nice work. It will definitely be a family heirloom.
