Made this last night. Maple head, Walnut handle.
Update: Decided to add two 1/2” walnut dowels for added strength since the lamination didn’t turn out as good as I’d hoped. Also finished with Watco Danish oil.

Nice looking beater… Purchased a preformed hickory handle from an antique store which I intend to make a mallet with at some point soon, still mulling over the desired head design. Thanks for sharing…

Its gorgeous. Laminated maple head? What stock did you start with? Looks like 2 pieces of 8/4, but i cant get a feel for the scale of the thing. How big is it?

Palaswood (Joseph): Yes the head is laminated, and I did start with 8/4 stock. The dimensions are about: Head=3.5”w x 6.25”l x 4.5”h, Tapered Handle (not inserted)= .75”w x 11”l x tapered from 2.25” to 1.5”.

Beautiful work. I made one similar to yours 20+ years ago. It will last forever. covered the malet ends with leather and it’s really held up well.
