You probably know by now I use a lot of old and recycled wood for all my builds. So here is another use of old wood that I have given new life and use. This door system came from a very old house on a local Plantation here in South GA. I left all the hardware intact, used a rusty 2×2 angle iron for shelf support, keeping with the recycled look. The original paint was left on the doors with just a light cleaning to remove dust and dirt. I was excited to see a real door, solid wood, no cavities. There are signs that indicate this was all done by hand. My only regret is that I wish I was as good as the original craftsman that done this fine piece. But…...I can keep improving and maybe I can be privileged enough just to watch a true craftsman at work. One day…....

That’s a cool and sturdy bookshelf. Great recycle of the wood, has lots of character and rustic charm. You are a great craftsman.

Have your say...
