Hi Rob;

While you did a great job with the surround and the access panels, the photos would have been much more dramatic with a live model.

See, always thinking!

Rob, that looks really nice, I like it alot, I particularly like the contrast with the dark granite.

You say it’s finished in stain and varnish. I have varnished wood in my bathroom, less than on your tub surround and farther away from direct contact with water, and still had to re-stain and varnish after about 4 years or so. The stain and varnish finish, while I like it for the look, doesnt seem to be super durable around water and heat. the last time I refinished I put on about 6 coats of spar varnish, hopefully it will hold up better this time.

Great looking surround.

I was sort of on the same page with Lee, except I was thinking I might like to be the gardener of the house. :-)

Thanks guys, I tried to get my wife to pose but…. well never mind. .... as for the durability of the varnish, my wife uses the tub about once every two months… so I am not too worried!

What a great idea. It looks great and you can remove your panels to service the tub.
I had a tub that was only a year old and out of warrenty(New house) that needed to be serviced. The tub manufacturer said I needed to have a plumber remove the tub than they would correct what ever was wrong with it at my cost. Than the plumber would had to come back and restall the tub. (the tub has jets). This would cost me about 400 to $550.00 to do.
I had nothing to lose since a new tub would be about 600.00 installed. So I did it. The pump had a leak and the pump manufacturer warrenty was for 5 years. Cost to repair….. 1 year and ZERO dollars. If I had panels it would have been a no brainer.
