Slab/Rustic Bench

Project by steveosshop posted 491 days ago 343 views 0 times favorited 4 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is my first try at rustic/slab furniture. I will say it was fun. I was involved in the whole process. My grandfather-in-law had a cherry tree blow down on his property. I helped cut it up, then used a chainsaw mill to make slabs, then used hand planes to smooth it some. I left it somewhat rough still for looks. Then all I did was use the miter saw to cut everything to size and screwed it all together with screws and outdoor glue. I think I like doing furniture and indoor style project better, but it was a ton of fun!

Cool! I love these slab benches. I need to start making them and put them out in my timber on our trails. After a bit of walking, I could use one of these!... lol

Great job! Thanks for the post.

Nice looking bench!

Now that you are skilled with the chain saw- no tree is safe and project failures can be more quickly turned into firewood!
