So simple but so handy...

Just a simple little block of maple(any hardwood will do), about 3”x5”x1”. About 7” of welding rod, 3/16” stainless in this case. Three holes to drill and one small notch at top. Lightly sanded. Blend with small amount of Danish oil and Viola!, the handiest thing you can have for river-bank fishing! Oh, and an old 5/16” rod in bottom. Keeps your pole safe and sound and frees up both hands for helping the kids, grand kids, or whatever. So easy and compact to stow away! Even holds a cigarette or cigar in notch while holding rod in hand!! Dual purpose I reckon!! A true epiphany! My old holders were made from 1.25” PVC and quite bulky to pack and carry. Now this one fits in the same chair pouch as my rod and chair! Grab it and go with a small Plano 3640 box and you’re all set! SWMBO says i need to patent this but I guess it’ll be too late now! Got to get a dozen more made for all the kids and fishing buddies now!

Great idea Dennis !
I really like the compactness of it.
Throw a few of those in your tackle box and you are good to go.

That’s fantastic! I’m absolutely using your idea. Three kids, two hands and I actually want to fish when I take them fishing. Thanks so much!

neat idea, a priceless treasure if you have more than one child with you on a fishing trip..Oh, you can betcha they will be holding onto their rod and reel, but I would definitely need a place to sit mine. Because if there is anything that I have learned throughout the years it is, fish by oneself = not many fish caught…take a kid fishing= all the fish in the waterway jump in the cooler..

It is the craziest thing I have ever seen and this would surely help. looking good!
