I purchased my first bandsaw over the weekend. I wanted to make some straight cut so I decided to sacrifice some plywood intended for another project to make the sled. The most time consuming part was cutting the wood for the track. I also made a dado cut for the first time on my table saw (without a dado blade) for the miter gauge. The bandsaw does not have any holes in the side for an after market fence. I’ll have to figure something out because I do want a metal fence.

It is used as a fence, but there is nothing to hold the miter bar in place.. I have to clamp it down. It just creates more work and a cluttered sled.

A great idea for a fence Jerome. I think it should be more sturdy though. I suggest you make the fence a ‘L’ shape and put some vertical supports inside the L shape to stiffen the fence. If the vertical supports start a little in from the outer edge of the fence, you would have room to clamp the fence to the table using the horizontal part of the ‘L’. Also, don’t forget that you can probably drill holes in the steel table to mount an after market metal fence.

Looks like a winner Jerome. I am just very curious about what you will be doing with all those half balls. I hope we get to see a project using them.

I use the split balls for the small shield that I make. No one makes them in this size, so I have to make my own
