Oak End Tables

A set of red oak end tables I made for a couch in our entertainment room. This was my third project with the HVLP spray gun and I really like the results of this go around. General finishes water dye combination of cinnamon and light brown to darken, then high performance poly to top coat it. I did a lot more plane work on this project than any of my previous. all the outside surfaces, except the few routed ones were plane only. What a great finish that leaves, no sanding needed in my opinion.

The bottom shelf on both units are two boards I jointed them with my no 4, then planed flat once glued up. The 5th picture is the best result. Tough to tell it was two boards to start with.

All in all there are a few things I would have done differently, but the wife and I are very pleased with these. One of these days I will get around to documenting my workbench here on LJ.

Those came out great Chase.
You are right; unless you knew the bottom shelf was two boards, you’d never tell.
Nice job.
And that spray system you’re using in achieving some really nice results.

Very nice tables Chase. The water dye you used really brought out the grain…excellent job.
