Here is a toy chest I made for my niece’s first birthday. I got the design idea from the internet and used birch ply for the carcass. The base and top trim is pine and the molding strip is one from a big box store. I used pocket hole joinery throughout. The lettering and flowers came from a hobby store. I did NOT chose the colors. :) I learned a bit from this project, for example I would have used a different joinery technique or maybe plugged the holes in a different way if I could do it again. Overall I’m moderately satisfied with how it turned out. The family loved it so I guess it’s a keeper. This is my first attempt at building something for household use like this. Before this it was just basic 2×4 shop furniture and the like. Next up, kitchen cabinets. Wish me luck!

Nicely done. I think the colors are perfect for a one year old. Good work

It came out pretty and well crafted. Like the open top and colors. I’m sure she’ll treasure it.
