I like birds. I enjoy watching them out my family room window. For the last few years I have taken a fancy to making birdhouses and feeders. I usually use leftover wood from projects or get cheap pine or poplar for them.
Painting is the hardest part for me. It never seems to suit me when I’m done. Still, I enjoy the process and love to see a whimsical birdhouse after I’m finished.

My wife and I have given lots of these away, and I am always afraid that whoever gets them will put them outside! What???!!! Yep, I shudder to think of my creations out there in the cold and rain! Of course I’m the guy that a friend jokes about for washing my tractor and keeping it in the garage.

I must get some therapy for my overprotectiveness… is that a word? Afterall these creations are our babies!

Jerry, you do have a “pet” Kubota that you really should let out in a field to play. It is a 35 horsepower farm tractor being treated like a souped-up street rod…but that is beside the point…and strictly between you, your therapist, and our local Kubota dealer.

I think this birdhouse is lovely and whimsical. I had fun seeing it. It reminds me of the hat in Dr. Seuss’ The Cat In The Hat And All That. I agree that it is an art object, and a beautiful one at that.

Hey, maybe you should make a color-coordinated orange and gray birdhouse to hang on the roll bar of your Kubota tractor! That way you could wash and pet both of them at the same time.

The photography here is superb. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Fancy and dainty birdhouses! Creative and fun design and bright colors. I wouldn’t place them outdoors without some shade or protection.

Have your say...
