To further enhance the laser engraving of my timber signs, I have taken to inlaying with colour…
The process is rather simple…
Before engraving, cover the timber with masking tape… engrave…. leaving a mask of tape around the letters, words etc… then spray with colour of choice… use a rattle can spray enamel…. then peel away the tape leaving colours inlays… the slight bleeding around the inlay can be sanded off… carefully…
This process makes the engraving POP…
The timber I have used in these signs is Wau Beech… this is a timber not normally seen outside of Papua New Guinea but is a very pretty wood and wonderful to work…

Hi Larry! long time no hear… pretty! did you try using enamel “cast” (dripping enamel onto it and letting it level)? do it will really pop out? also you can try waxing before putting the tape on to stop the bleeding. just an idea – have no idea if it will work…

These look Smart and Clean to me my Friend, particularly the Black ones…
If you have any darker woods, Gold paint works well too…
Very Well Done!

really good work here larry, the laser has many ways to function and this widens the possibilities for you to use it
