This is a design that I am working on and will base future boxes on with different ideas to be included.
Tis box is made from some Asian pallet wood and a end grain top panel made from Tamarac that a fellow gave me as a sample for a workbench ( only about a foot long 2”x3” )
I used a different corner detail and also used brass hinges on this one .
The finish is Watco oil and bees wax mixture .

The end grain top adds an interesting touch. Good looking spines and corner detail too. Nicely done.

A very unique and attractive design that incorporates many interesting elements. I particularly like the end grain, book matched top and recessed corners!

That’s a mighty fine looking box Kiefer. I like the top end grain. Unique corners with very nicely placed splines.
All the wood tones come together nicely! This is a great looking box!

Kiefer, this is a lovely box. It is a lot of things, but “rustic” is not a term that springs to mind. The book-matched top is really attractive. Nice job on that. It would help readers to know the dimensions of this box and perhaps the wood used, if you know.

The clever look of the cut-away corners is really impressive. You are on a roll there with the extended splines and now this twist in box design. I am eagerly awaiting your next innovation with this concept. I like where this is going. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Keifer, now there’s a corner detail I’ve never seen before. Nice job on the WHOLE box.

very unique and elegant design. I don’t often see tamarack used in woodworking.
