Project Information

I made this out of Ash with a golden oak stain. It has raised panel construction all around with a solid ash top, with dovetail corners. The lid supports are of the kind that are self-suporting and don't allow the lid to slam shut. I carved his name in basswood with then stained using an airbrush for the finish and the outlines of the car and airplaine were painted then sanded to remove all the paint except what remained in the grooves. The carvings were done using knives and gouges. There is a plaque on the inside lid that was laser engraved that says "Made espically for Isaiah from great grandpa Cline" and the date. Total expenses for this project was less than $150. All the wood was 4/4 rough cut planks that I get from a local sawmill and plane down to size.

Great looking and sweet gift to the adorable little one. I'm sure he'll treasure it forever.
