Project Information

I was going through my lumber bin I saw this oak board and said "Oakie-Dokie…this will be the board for my next box". Gooda' name as any.
I really like the spalted oak and use these sparingly.
Dimensions are 10"x7"x4"
The lift is Rosewood and the finish is canned lacquer.

Now on to the next box…much to do before my wife and I go on vacation

This is the first box of yours I have seen, wonderful. I am curious about the carving part. Did you carve before you made the box or after?

Another very very nice box, love the rose wood used for the lift. Every box you make has it's own persona and Oakie-Dokie definitely has that plus great sculpting of the box as always.

degoose…extra thanks! Just having loads of fun…!

Thomas…much appreciated. After a while it gets boring just calling a box by its wood type…oak box etc.

mds2…I use an angle grinder, a Foredom electric carver and a load of hand sanding.

Kelly…I carved it after the box was assembled.

Dave…thanks. The rosewood lift is a scrap from another box I glued up from rosewood. I am debating about using an oak lift on it.

thanks everyone…! It is funny how we all visualize things differently…I never saw the design as a crab..but that is what makes creativity fun…the fact that we all look at something with different results.

Roger…it has also been said in my family since my remembering device has been working…My Dad, Grandpa and friends have said it so many times that I am surprised it ain't in the dictionary….

Shannon…Thanks…! I checked out your wood rings and they are awesomely unique.

Have you been in the Woodlands Art Festival? My wife and I are applying for it this year.
