I wanted to make something that had a mechanical function to it and I ran across this while surfing the web. I bought the book mentioned in the article and used their plan to make it. The body is made from a scrap piece of Ash and the darker pieces are scrap pieces of Cherry. The key is of Ash and Cherry also.

That is really quite nice! great use of scraps.

Ya know Mike, this would work great with the box I just built, I made my very box wooden hinges and a wooden Hasp to match the wooden hinges these two would go great together, I’m taking the box to the finishing booth today and will post in a couple days.
