Project Information

A relative of mine asked if I could make her a large cutting board, and one to match it. This one is 12" x 24" x 2" thick and the smaller board is 6" x 7" x 1" and made out of Black Walnut, Cherry, Maple, and Makore. If I make one again this size, I will definitely be cutting a finger groove in the ends at mid-height to make it easier to pick up.

Nice. I am making cutting board number 21 tonight… 21 in the last 2 months.

Out of curiosity, what is the relative width of your strips?

Freddy-Most of the pieces are around 1 inch thick. It really all depends on what the rough stock is that I start with. I've had pieces down to 1/4 inch in some of my boards, and some that have been 2 inches.
