Cedar Domino Box

I made this box as a gift for my mother. I made it using a block of cedar that I had intended to turn but it had too many small cracks and splits, so I decided to re saw it and make this box. I used ash for the lid and accents. The cedar handle was shaped by hand using my RO sander, and a file. The project is finished with my home-brewed wipe-on finish and topped with renaissance wax. I think the wax dulled the finish a little but I am still happy with it overall. My mother says that she loves it (...but you never really know with mothers). I also put a finish nail in the body of the box and a rare earth magnet in the lid to keep it shut while moving and storing the box. The pictures aren’t the greatest as I didn’t have time to take pictures at home, but I hope you all enjoy the posting anyway. As always feel free to comment.

It’s pretty and well crafted, has very nice wood colors and finish. Lucky mother!
