Made from solid cherry, this mission style bookshelf has two adjustable shelves to maximize storage choices. Dimensions are 60”H x 30”W x 13”D. I cut the plugs with a (newly purchased for this project) 3/8-in plug cutter so I was able to match (somewhat) the grain. Starting from rough cut lumber, I was able to make the shelves 7/8 thick and the legs are 1” thick. With this being my first missions style piece, I was a little worried about not using a back piece to add stability. No worries – it’s solid as a rock. And I was a little worried about a mission style piece not being made of the traditional oak. No worries – looks great to me. Finished with two coats of brush on poly and one coat of wipe on poly.
Thanks for looking -Jeff

I’d say it’s a home run, and in my opinion cherry looks just as good or better than QS oak in many pieces.

Great job, the cherry looks amazing! It’s my current favorite wood. :-)
