Wall bed

This is a wall bed that I designed and built for my family room.

This wall bed has no hinges and no springs. It fits a queen size mattress. The depth is 12”.

The front of the cabinet is covered by a suede curtain that rolls up to expose the bed frame and the mattress behind the frame. One lifts the curtain by pulling a chain on the inner left side of the cabinet.

When the bed is not in use, the bed frame is held up in the vertical position by four large pegs (two on each side of the cabinet), and the mattress is held up by another set of four large pegs behind those that hold up the bed frame.

When the bed is in use, each leg is manually attached to the bed frame and held in place by three small pegs. When the bed is not in use, the five legs are detached and stored separately.

I used blue/black milk paint on the cabinet and light cream milk paint on the bed frame.
