A mesquite keep sake box with simple lines and style. In keeping with the classic beauty of this wood; I wanted the style to be simple. All the checks and knot holes were filled with epoxy and sanded flush before finishing with a clear semi-gloss lacquer. A paste wax was used over the lacquer. The tray and bottom of the box are lined with green felt. The wood was harvested by a rancher friend, on his land in SouthTexas, and has been air dried for about 4 to 5 years.

Classy! The dovetail is very nice! Love all the details! Keep it up!

Nice work,there Mr Green,
Keep cutting it down and sawing it up for boxes, seats and the likes, its yet another noxious weed in Australia,
It is particularly bad in the northern and western regions and joins the ranks of the Camphor Laurel and the likes listed as a weed.

Great work on that beautiful box. Like the grain patterns of your Mesquite and the great dovetails.

Have your say...
