this is a chest made from solid poplar I built for my brother.finished with 9 coats of toung oil and hand rubbed finish

Looks great, very well executed. Ya know, I think poplar has gotten a bum rap over the years. Like any wood, match the grain and use the best finish, and it can look great on anything.

Great Box! love working with Poplar and Birch, just picked up a load of Birch to make my work bench, someday?

Randy, built a tool chest from poplar and love all the colors. Glad you didn’t paint it, the finish shows the great workmanship you’ve put in. Nice job.
