Pine Coffee Table

I built this project for a friend who requested a simple pine coffee table for their den. The frame itself is constructed with loose tenon miters (domino), sliding dovetails (trim router) and wedged through mortise and tenon joints (chisel) (1st picture). The two panels are sandwiched between a ledge on the inside of the frame and the face-frame which carries the miter and sliding dovetail theme and allows for seasonal expansion of the large glue-up. The finish is 2 coats of Charles Neil’s Color Primer followed by three coats of Arm-R-Seal Topcoat wiped on.

This project was a terrific joinery learning experience, my first all-wood piece of furniture, and my first piece built for someone else, all rolled into one.

Beautiful coffee table…nice clean straight lines….I like the idea of angling the top.

Well though out. I like the wood. It is beautiful! Nicely done.
