Never Ending Table Saw/Router Workstation Project

I have been working on this for over 6 months now, and I think it’s at a point that I am going to call it complete, but every time I look at it I think of something new I need to add! I wanted a workstation to combine my table saw and router into one large, flat shared area and finally settled on the version from ShopNotes #89. I took a few cues from the one by gbear and the fence that steveinmarin made and this is what came out! It has made using both tools much more pleasant. Future upgrades include better DC and a vega fence. Some of the unexpected challenges included having to reconfigure the top because I cut it backwards, having to make a homemade fence extension because my new top extended out the back further, and coming up with a “floating” top design because I didn’t like the original design. Thanks for looking. If you want to see more detail, there are a ton more pictures here.

Very nice. I’m currently researching building something similar so your project is definitely going into my references list.
Do you have any pictures that show it being build as I don’t have access to the ShopNotes magazine here.

Well done.

I have been working on my rendition of this TS work station for much longer than 6 months. I really like your approach. Thanks for sharing.

I worked for a tier 1 parts supplier for Mercedes a few years ago.
I will never forget what one Mercedes manager told me.
We were discussing continuous improvement and model changes etc.
He put his hand on my shoulder and said, “Michael, we modified and changed and improved the “E” class for 17 years. At some point you just have to kill the engineers and build the damn product.”

Looks great! I sympathize. I have a design on paper that I look at every once in awhile, make changes to, etc… its been two years :-O At some point you have to just call it. At least yours is built and useable, enjoy!

Man I love these type setups! Almost makes me want to get rid of my cabinet saw just so I can have a saw to build on with…....

Nice job!

crank49, you hit the nail on the head. I am an engineer and I have heard more than one manager say that!

Just bought the plans for this one too. Haven’t had time to start on it yet. Yours came out great!
