I picked up some reclaimed ipe from Reuse Hawaii in town. With a lot of sanding, a little oil and a ton of wax, I got the wood to look pretty slick. While the design of tables is pretty generic and simple, the time taken to finish the table tops really makes them look pretty nice. While ipe is pretty hard, I kind of enjoyed working with it because it turned out so nice.

Nice use of re-claimed wood. the work to bring out the beauty in the wood shows.

Those boards sure cleaned up nicely. Great job; they made some nice little tables. And by the way, Welcome to LJs!

Beautiful end tables! Like the top combined with the painted bottom. Great reuse of the wood.

Thanks for the compliments. The painting worked out well. It also allowed me to use less expensive wood (pine) so it kept the costs down. I love the testors for using them on small painted products like this too. A little paint goes a long way for accent pieces.

Have your say...
