We bought our house a few years ago (Sears and Roebuck 1900s home) and it had a very narrow bedroom above the stairway. Well in the bedroom there was a closet that followed the stairway that proved to be very inefficient. We couldn’t put a bed in front of the closet because there was not enough space and the room was too narrow to put the bed along the long wall. So I decided to tear out the closet and make a built in bed, armoire, closet with drawers and bookcase along the wall with the staircase so we could use the room without having to put furniture in the room. After year of designing, planning, demo, finishing grad school, and building a new wood shop, the room is done and with pictures to share. Like everyone else I have already started planning my next project….....

Oh I almost forgot, I used cherry.

Great way to gain some space; it looks like it really fits very well, will be functional and it does look super!

Nice design – the closet space is so much better. And it looks great too!

It turned out great and a real nice use of the room. Congratulations.

What a great improvement and use of the small room. Your great builds makes the room look bigger, very well designed and planned. Excellent work!
