This jewellery box was made for Joyce’s 18th Birthday and supplied as a present.
The box Lid.
Tasmanian Myrtle constructed by 45 deg joints and butt jointed medallion
The frame of the lid was rebated before assembly and has a burgundy textured vinyl insert is on the inside.
Once assembled the edges were tapered flush into the medallion.
The profile on the edges of the lid were created with a beading router bit.
The box Frame.
Tasmanian Myrtle frame butt jointed together with the grain rotated 90 deg on the front sections for effect.
The frame is edged with shop purchased veneer inlay all around.
The joints in the frame are basic half lap.
The name is routed in using a 6.3mm Round routing bit and background is contrasted in matt black.
The insert trays.
The material is Tasmanian Myrtle and the bases of the trays again lined with burgundy textured vinyl.
The inserts are simple butt joint frames and rounded over at the tops.
The trays at the bottom are one single piece separated into two the centre by a lifting handle.
