I made this table and bench from sinker cypress. I pulled axe cut sinker cypress logs out of the river, milled, and dried myself and this table is the out come. Feels great that I turned a log I found in the river into this table.

Very nice table. And your right it is rewarding creating furniture from your own logs.

What a gorgeous table. And done the hard way! You are my kinda woodworker (no store bought lumber for us!)

I would love to find some of that sinker cypress but all of mine is fresh cut “Okie” cypress.

You are right, it just doesn’t feel the same to buy store bought lumber to me, it really means a lot to me to produce something out of a tree you milled, maybe it’s just me and you GFadvm. Dont get me wrong, I still buy lumber, its just not the same. My father
-in-law owns a large tree service so getting cut trees is not an issue, that is if you have a metal detector. So hey let me know if you or anyone wants to do a small swap or something, I have hundreds of pieces of sinker cypress laying around needing something. PM me

This is a great looking table and will last for generations. Great job!

I am near Baton Rouge and am in need of some live edge cypress for a couple projects. Any idea where I might be able to get it. I need some 12-14” wide by 2” thick material. 2pcs around 6 ft and two around 5’.

Awesome table! The wood is gorgeous and it’s all worth the hardwork. It will last for generations. Great job!
