Vintage Vinyl Storage Cube

I started collecting the vintage vinyl that I used to listen to in Viet Nam back in the day. My wife told me I needed to build a storage unit so this is what I came up with. It’s a 13” x 13” x 13” cube made from left over exotic wood shipping crates. I applied one coat of walnut oil to help protect it and help make the beauty of the wood stand out. It will hold around 75+ albums. No nails or staples, I used dowels in place of nails and a little tite bond lll. Thru trial & error I learned that I couldn’t use nails or screws on the hardwood (cracked easily) and that I also couldn’t hand drill the dowel holes. I had to use the drill press to keep the hole straight and true, but now I think I have a handle on the process. It’s a pretty simple design and process. I also got to use my new branding iron.

Great job.

Where did you get the branding iron?

Nice to see people preserving the old vinyl…...nice work, and the branding iron cool…(well hot, I guess)...

Very nice and cool box for your great collection of vinyl. Great use of the leftover wood for crates. Well done!

Have your say...
