A few years back I had promised my significant other a unique jewelry box. As she often says, “you can never build something simple”. I had to wait until I found the right woods that spoke to me. The larger box is hers and I think she is pleased with the results of her long wait. The other box I built for my best friend’s daughter’s graduation, after all I was responsible for introducing him to his future wife. The larger box is made from a single piece of highly figured walnut with Birdseye maple drawer pulls and spalted maple drawers. The second box is also from a single piece of walnut with Birdseye maple. The front legs are a tapered mirrored pattern of downward cascading lines that remind me of the Chinese painting stylization of very vertical descending mountains. The photo doesn’t really capture this detail.

Those are both really cool. I especially like the walnut bodied one.

PG, this is such great work I hope we don’t have to wait another 3 years and 10 months to get the next post. I really like the form and the little details you have added to both of them. Next time post them one at a time and show more shots of each so we can better appreciate what a fine job you have done on the finished product. I like the leg design and the pulls. Really well done projects. Thanks for sharing. Keep boxing and keep sharing.

Those are really pretty jewelry boxes! Each box has special features, gorgeous wood combo and beautiful finish. I’m sure the new owners will love them. Great job!
