I quickly threw this together as a gift for my cousin’s husband…hope he likes it!!

The box is quarter sawn white oak NOT stained, and the secondary accent wood you see there is Padauk…
The bottom is made of aromatic cedar.

Corners are mitered and splined

Finish is 3 coats of gloss lacquer with a light scuff sanding with 1500 grit paper between coats….the “feel” of the final finish is difficult to keep your hands off!!!

Very nice, pretty box. Nice wood mix. I thought I read a post when mixing padauk with a light wood, such as your oak, the sanding dust from the paduak would “stain” the lighter wood. Is this the case? You have a great finish.

Lovely box! The wood combination is quite attractive especially the Padauk. Great design, like the top and the legs. I’m sure he likes it. Great job!

Have your say...
