I had a nostalgic moment this afternoon. As terrible as our school colors were (purple and gold) I thought they would look terrific in a cutting board. I had some yellowheart and purpleheart in the garage. I did not want them to overpower the board, so I cut them in 1/2 ” strips and used 2” strips of some gorgeous maple. We have some maple that is bright white and some that is darker in color. I alternated those strips as well. I did a fabulous job cutting and putting this one together. Very little sanding was needed. Finished with a mineral oil and wax.

Now someone from my hometown needs to buy this thing.

Thank you! My design is usually “ooh, i think that will look nice” and wing it. 99% of the time it works. No, our school mascot was a Buck… a Golden Buck. I grew up in Maine, go figure.

LOL, a golden buck : )
Reminds me of the old story about a Doe walking out of the woods , shaking her head and saying, I’ll never do that again for two bucks !

Not a fan of the colors, (colors of our cross town rivals), but gorgeous board nonetheless!! Just beautiful work. Will definitely put this pattern on my to do list!

Nice Joke! Sounds like something my colorful family would share around the holiday table.
